The Batman: Arkham series has ended, so let’s leave it alone.
Insurgency is rumoured to be the next addition to the Batman: Arkham series, and will take place just before the events or Arkham Asylum.
As much as I love the game series and heavily invested my time into each new entry, it wouldn’t be a wise move for another release. Don’t get me wrong, I want more of Arkham, I just don’t want to return as Batman.
Batman is a very simple character in comparison to the villains he opposes, and replacing him with another protagonist would be a very wise decision if there is a new entry to the series. Of course, that would mean removing “Batman” from the title, but I honestly do not see that as an issue.
If Rocksteady are creating another game based within the Arkham universe I hope they have the decency to move away from Batman as a protagonist. We’ve seen everything we need to of his character, and allowing a new protagonist to take his place is essential for a sequel to not be stale.
Personally, I recommend using either Tim Drake (Robin) or Jason Todd (Red Hood), but we’ll see if another game is ever released.
